Personal opinion time: how do you define luxury [car]? There are lots of ways to do it, I'm just curious what your standard is.

Gotta be comfortable and high quality. These were some of the finest automobiles in terms of comfort and quality at the time. Interior has to have acres of fine materials instead of cheap plastics and pleasing to touch surfaces.

Even a new Accord EX-L could be considered a luxury car, as it offers many features that premium brands twice the price offer.

So comfort and value? Seems like quality is a bit nebulous in your standard. I ask because I think...above all...Luxury goods should be built without the idea of "planned obsolescence" They should be built to last a lifetime with proper care.

No, not value.. I was just saying that even an Accord offers many luxurious features as luxury cars do.

I guess thats the crux of the dilemma for me: does being feature rich constitute a "luxury car" these days? Have we lowered our standards to the point that "lots of toys and soft materials" are all it takes?

Beautiful cars. I want to own one some day... can you tell me what it's like to drive, how it is owning it, etc. Thanks a lot for the photos.

I got mine because my '98 Camry and '03 Expedition were soul-sapping. This was the ticket. Mine are both 4.5 w108 so they guzzle like there is no tomorrow. They drive like Mercedes do...as though you are on your way to somewhere important to lord over all. Not a sports car, but it can lift its skirt and shift when needs be.

I've driven the W221 S class and that's kinda how I'd describe it... comfy and elegant, can be a bit agile for its size when you want it to be.
